Lola

From Rescue - On June 5th, 2024, Lola was brought to Miami Dade Animal Services as a stray. During her intake, Lola would fall over/lose balance and exhibit a head tilt that was all believed to be a result of severely infected and dirty ears. My rescue pulled Lola from Miami Dade Animal Services on June 9th, 2024 (the day of her spay and deep ear cleaning and treatment under sedation) with an assessed DX of vestibular disorder/head tilt possibly from severely infected ears. She boarded at my vet office awaiting a foster and for a couple of weeks improved in her walking, head tilt and head bobbing. On 22 June, 2024, while boarding (no foster for her), my rescue vet called to inform me Lola had a seizure and was currently intubated since she was not able to breathe on her own. I rushed over to see her (pic included) and my vet informed me that there’s no guarantee that when they take her off of the breathing machine, she will be able to bring her own because we do not know the extent of the seizures or what’s causing them. I made the hard decision to give her 24 hrs to see if treatment plan would stabilize her as long as she wasn’t suffering or she would be humanly euthanized. Lola bounced back by the next morning and within 24 hours, I obtained a neurologocal consult with Southeast veterinary neurology (SEVN) so we can assess Lola’s neurological medical needs.... Since 22 June, Lola’s has vestibular seizures that aren’t always managed by her medication. On a couple of occasions, her seizures have been more frequent and it has led to her being hospitalized. She takes daily anti seizure medication every eight hours. My vet gave her an initial round of clindimyacin as a preventive treatments incase she had a spinal fluid infections (only spinal tap with MRI can detect) and she improved. Within a couple of days of finishing the medication, Lola had another set of seizures over a course of 48 hours. She was placed on a second round of the antibiotics and just completed it a few days ago; so far no seizures. Lola has been under my family’s personal care in my home since July 11th, 2024. She is an amazing little dog and I am looking for help to give this girl the best life possible.... But we are committed to her until she finds her furever home.
